A vessel capable of completing Nord Stream 2, the Akademik Chersky pipelayer, has arrived in Kaliningrad for testing. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the global vessel positioning system MarineTraffic.
Then the ship will begin laying its pipe section in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark, now the barge Fortuna is already operating there.
Earlier in March, it became known that the construction of Nord Stream 2 was postponed for six months: until September 2021. The gas pipeline from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea was originally supposed to be commissioned at the end of 2019. However, its completion was hampered by sanctions from the United States, due to which European companies began to leave the project.
