The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline can be used as an instrument of pressure on Russia. Such a proposal was expressed by MEP Manfred Weber in an interview with Der Spiegel, RIA Novosti reports.
The head of the European People’s Party, the largest faction in parliament, called on to behave more confidently in foreign policy. In his opinion, the launch of the gas pipeline is not in the interests of the EU, since Nord Stream 2 works to stabilize the regime of Vladimir Putin, which, in turn, “acts to a great extent against the EU and its member states.”
Weber believes that Moscow can be forced to return to “partnership cooperation” if the pipeline is not allowed to start working in full.
