Avoiding meat is bad for your bones

A vegan diet that excludes meat and dairy products has been shown to be harmful to bones. Scientists have found that such a diet can lead to the risk of fractures. A corresponding study by scientists from the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) was published in the journal Nutrients.

Researchers have found that vegans tend to have weaker bones due to lack of nutrients found only in animal products.

Scientists conducted an ultrasound examination of the calcaneus of 72 people, half of whom turned out to be from meat and milk, and the other half did not. Using ultrasound, experts have identified 12 markers that indicate the condition of the bones. They include vitamins A and B6, lysine, leucine, omega-3 fatty acids, selenoprotein P, iodine, calcium, magnesium and other elements.

Earlier, a group of American scientists and designers created meat grown from human cells. To get a steak, you need to collect your own cells from the inside of your cheek and then place them in expired blood serum. As a result, a piece of meat the size of one bite grows out of the cells. The whole growing process takes three months.
