Belarus: filed a case against law enforcers who went over to side of opposition

In Belarus, a criminal case was opened against former security officials who went over to the side of the opposition, left the country and founded the BYPOL association. This was reported on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the republic.

It is noted that among the specified ex-employees of the departments are an employee of the prosecutor’s office Oleg Talerchik and investigator Igor Loban. “These citizens on the Internet resource during a videoconference to stir up confrontation in society, with their statements prompted listeners to enmity and discord on the basis of social belonging,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

It is clarified that the case was initiated for inciting racial, national, religious or other social hostility or discord. This article provides for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.

Earlier, the BYPOL association, which supports the protesters, published new details of the resonant detention of activist Roman Bondarenko in Minsk, who died from serious injuries. According to eyewitnesses, when he entered the police department, Bondarenko no longer moved independently and did not speak, he only “twitched”, although during the arrest he was still conscious.
