Moscow and Minsk have agreed to create three combat training centers for the joint training of their military personnel. The Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced this in its official Telegram channel.
It is noted that the relevant agreements were reached at a meeting of the defense ministers of the two countries, Sergei Shoigu and Viktor Khrenin. The centers are planned to be located in the Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad and Grodno regions. The timing of the start of work on their construction is not yet known.
Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko wanted to build a unified defense policy between Moscow and Minsk. At the same time, he believes that the Belarusian sovereignty will remain inviolable. “Everything will be beautiful and dignified,” the head of state believes.
Throughout 2019 and the first half of 2020, before the presidential elections, which triggered the start of mass protests in Belarus, Lukashenko has repeatedly stated the need to pursue a multi-vector policy and build an independent country. He regularly complained about the “imperial manners” of Russia, criticizing the integration project within the framework of the Union State.
