ISS-65 prime and backup crews continue to pass exams

The ISS-65 prime crew commander, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, flight engineer, Roscosmos cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov, passed the exam on manual docking and re-docking of the Soyuz MS transport manned spacecraft on the Don-Soyuz simulator, Roscosmos cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Oleg Artemiev.

During the exam training, the cosmonauts performed four modes, the first of which was redocking from one docking port of the Russian segment of the International Space Station to another.

“In the first mode, there were no emergency situations – it was a regular re-docking, it is not carried out automatically at all,” explained Yuri Klyuev, lead engineer of the Cosmonaut Training Center. the moment when the cosmonauts flew around the station, they are opposite the docking station and are already starting to dock. During the exam, it is necessary to recognize the emergency situation and demonstrate to the commission the algorithm of actions to get out of it. “

According to Yuri Klyuev, exam training is directly related to flight programs.

“The change of crews at the International Space Station, the launch of the” Science “module – all this is accompanied by redocking and other processes that the cosmonauts must control in different modes,” the CTC engineer emphasized.

The ISS-65 prime and backup crews have successfully completed the assigned tasks. Ahead of them are examinations on manual controlled descent of the Soyuz MS spacecraft, a typical flight day on the ISS Russian segment simulator, and other tests. The launch of the Soyuz MS-18 manned transport vehicle with the crew of the 65th long-term expedition is scheduled for April 2021 from the Baikonur cosmodrome.
