German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced that the country will begin to ease coronavirus restrictions. RIA Novosti reports.
Merkel said that as early as March 8, in regions where the incidence of the virus does not exceed the mark of 50 new cases per week per thousand people, retail stores may be opened, and in the lands where this figure is higher, online orders.
At the same time, from March 22 in regions with a low incidence, catering establishments may begin to open, and in areas with a high incidence – restaurants and outdoor cafes by appointment. A similar scheme will apply to theaters, concert and opera halls, and cinemas under certain conditions.
It is noted that the decision to ease restrictions will be taken by the land authorities.
Earlier, the German Chancellor commented on the situation with the coronavirus in the country. According to her, the peak of the second wave has already passed. Merkel urged citizens to hold out a little longer. She noted that once vaccinations start, hospitals will not be so overwhelmed, as the elderly will be less sick.
