Singapore will ban the registration of diesel cars and taxis from 2025 in order to reduce emissions and stimulate the adoption of electric vehicles. This is stated on the website of the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
By 2030, the country plans to install 60 thousand charging points for electric vehicles. The authorities want to provide grants to equip chargers in residential complexes. By 2040, all cars in the country should be powered by clean energy.
Other measures will be taken to reduce carbon emissions: planting a million trees, building railways and expanding the network of cycle paths, and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills by 20 percent within five years.
The largest automakers in the EU have decided to stop selling trucks with gasoline and diesel engines by 2040. The agreement was previously signed by Daimler, Scania, Man, Volvo, Daf, Iveco and Ford under the auspices of the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers. The alliance plans to stake on battery technology, hydrogen, environmentally friendly fuels.
