President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko wanted to build a unified defense policy between Moscow and Minsk, in which “a mosquito will not undermine the nose,” BelTA informs.
According to him, the relations between the foreign policy and military departments of Russia and Belarus are an example of cooperation for all other authorities of the two countries. “Therefore, we will coordinate our defense policy on the topic of the day, foreign policy. And we are full of determination …”, Lukashenko said.
At the same time, the president believes that with the strengthening of relations, Russia will not encroach on the sovereignty of Belarus, and other states will not dare to accuse him of wanting to eliminate the independence of the republic. “Everything will be beautiful and dignified,” the head of state concluded.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that the work to unite Russia and Belarus is absolutely unnecessary. He explained that Belarusians live “in their own apartment” and want to preserve their sovereignty.
Throughout 2019 and the first half of 2020, before the presidential elections, which triggered the start of mass protests in Belarus, Lukashenko has repeatedly stated the need to pursue a multi-vector policy and build an independent country. He regularly complained about the “imperial manners” of Russia, criticizing the integration project within the framework of the Union State.
