President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarusians live in their apartment, although it is small in comparison with huge Russia. BelTA informs about it in its Telegram-channel.
“And we are a sovereign and independent state. Today the world has changed so much that talk that Belarus should become part of Russia or Russia should become part of Belarus, or we should somehow merge, creating unified governing bodies. .. The world has changed so much that it would simply be stupid to even work in this direction. And secondly, it is absolutely unnecessary, “Lukashenka replied to the calls for maximum integration of the two countries.
He explained that existing as a sovereign independent state, Belarus can build such a system of relations that it will be more powerful than the relationship between individual subjects of the federation in Russia.
“And we have done a lot for this. We just do not talk about it. After all, our people have equal opportunities. No matter how difficult it is, business entities understand each other in negotiations, they have achieved a lot,” Lukashenko stressed.
Earlier on March 2, details of the talks between Lukashenko and Putin, which took place on February 22 in Sochi, became known.
Throughout 2019 and the first half of 2020, before the presidential elections, which triggered the start of mass protests in Belarus, Lukashenko has repeatedly stated the need to pursue a multi-vector policy and build an independent country. He regularly complained about the “imperial manners” of Russia, criticizing the integration project within the framework of the Union State.
