Sberbank reported a record increase in Russian spending in February 2021 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Spending increased 2.6 percent from the 2020 level, with citizens spending less money on air travel, transportation and restaurants. This follows from the SberIndex consumption dynamics assessment data.
In the last week of February, spending increased by 2.3 percent. Most of the costs are growing thanks to segments such as entertainment and sports. As noted by RBC, spending on non-food products increased by 4.6 percent, spending on services – by 8.2 percent. The largest increase in spending was in such segments as computers and software (43.8 percent), telecommunications equipment and services (37.1 percent), home appliances and electronics (33.3 percent).
Earlier, Romir analysts reported that the Russians had more free money. The so-called free money index in January this year showed the maximum growth in the entire history of observations. Meanwhile, in January, it was reported about a jump in Russian spending on food.
