In Russia, they named the approximate period for returning to indexation of pensions for working pensioners. The government is expected to find money for the initiative in the next budget cycle. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the words of the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.
She said that, in general, the government and parliament have no objections to this initiative. The search for funds for the indexation to be carried out annually is already underway. Matvienko added that the Federation Council is keeping the issue under control. The speaker of the upper house of parliament herself expressed the hope that the issue of indexing would be resolved.
Earlier it was reported that the government, on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, worked out the issue of indexing to working pensioners, prepared proposals and submitted them to the administration of the head of state.
Pensions for working pensioners were no longer indexed back in 2016 in order to reduce the deficit of the Pension Fund. In late 2020 – early 2021, the issue returned to the social agenda in Russia. The draft law on indexation was submitted to the State Duma by deputies from “Fair Russia”.
