Gasoline prices in Russia went up sharply

Since the end of December 2020, gasoline prices in Russia have been constantly growing by 5-10 kopecks per week, but at the end of February they went up sharply. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the Moscow Fuel Association.

According to her, from February 24 to March 1, 2021, AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline rose in price at Moscow gas stations by 11 kopecks – up to 44.66 rubles and 49.25 rubles per liter, respectively. During the same period, the price of AI-98 increased by 17 kopecks and amounted to 55.73 rubles. In addition to gasoline, diesel fuel has risen in price – the average cost of one liter at gas stations is 48.98 rubles.

For comparison, from 15 to 24 February, gasoline and diesel rose in price by 3-6 kopecks on average. According to the agency, fuel prices have been raised by most of the Moscow filling stations, except for Gazprom Neft, Lukoil and Global (operating under the EKA brand).

Earlier, Rosstat calculated that in January 2021, gasoline prices from producers increased by 8.5 percent compared to December of the previous year. In the same period, consumer prices for gasoline increased by 0.95 percent versus the previous month.
