The Progress Rocket and Space Center (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) hosted a meeting of the Council of Chief Designers on February 25 and 26, 2021, at which issues on the creation of the Soyuz-5 space rocket complex were considered.
Representatives of the S Rocket and Space Corporation Energia took part in the work of the Council of Chief Designers, chaired by Progress General Director Dmitry Baranov and Deputy General Director of Roscosmos State Corporation for rocketry, NKI operation, quality and reliability assurance Alexander Lopatin. .P. Dmitry Baranov presented a report on the implementation of the instructions of the Council of Chief Designers on this topic, which took place in November 2020, and reported on the progress of work on the creation of a new space rocket complex (SSC) Soyuz-5. In his report, the General Director of the Progress RCC presented the characteristics of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle and proposed for discussion a change in the Soyuz-5 fission scheme. The members of the Council of Chief Designers were familiarized with the general schedule for the creation of the spacecraft and the end-to-end schedule for the manufacture of the Soyuz-5 rocket.
The report of the RCC “Progress” reflects the state of affairs on the development of prototypes and their experimental development, work on the use of alloy 1580 in the creation of a rocket, in addition, the progress of work on the organization of production sites for a new carrier and the manufacture of prototypes, the procedure for financing cooperation enterprises is presented … Leaders from RSC Energia, NPO Energomash, KBKhA, NPO Avtomatika and other cooperation enterprises also made reports from co-executing partners in the project.
In the course of the work of the Council of Chief Designers, a decision was signed that determines further work on the implementation of the project: the general schedule for the creation of the Soyuz-5 space rocket complex was approved and instructions for the enterprises of the Roscosmos State Corporation were determined.
