Lukashenka denied rumors about transfer of power to sons

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko denied rumors about the transfer of power in the country to his eldest son Viktor. BelTA informs about it in its Telegram-channel.

“And, most importantly, you hear a lot of conversations: the transit of power, here now Lukashenka will at least transfer power to the elder, he will rule in the country. I often said that this has never been discussed in our family and cannot be discussed. Because not a single child of mine will be president in Belarus after me. And Viktor, if you elect him, will not be a civil servant, “Lukashenko said.

He added that Victor will be dismissed from his post as Assistant to the President for National Security “with all the ensuing consequences.”

The dismissal is due to the fact that on Friday, February 26, Lukashenko’s eldest son was elected to the post of President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

Earlier, Lukashenka spoke about the ongoing attempts to undermine Belarus. According to him, 2021 will be very difficult, since there is “some misunderstanding of development processes” in society, and external forces want to destabilize the situation.

In Belarus, protests have continued for more than six months after the presidential elections on August 9, 2020, according to the official results of which Lukashenko received 80 percent of the vote. Actions of those who disagree with the results are harshly suppressed by law enforcement agencies. Tens of thousands of people were detained, many spoke of torture and beating in isolation wards. Four people died in clashes with security forces.
