Lukashenka threatened to gather combat-ready sports troops for landing in Tokyo

At a meeting of the National Olympic Committee, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko threatened to assemble a combat-ready sports trooper for landing in Tokyo, where the XXXII Summer Olympic Games will be held in July-August. BelTA informs about it in its Telegram-channel.

“It is through your efforts that the sports glory of Belarus is created. You make decisions on the further development of the Olympic movement in the country, determine priorities in your work, evaluate what has been done. It is from you that new generations of Belarusian athletes will take an example,” Lukashenko addressed the audience at meeting.

He noted that the vast majority of athletes are real patriots who donate their talent, strength and energy without reserve for victories in the name of Belarus.

In December 2020, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) temporarily banned Lukashenka from participating in all events held under its auspices. According to IOC President Thomas Bach, the current leadership of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, headed by the President, does not protect athletes from political discrimination.

Earlier, the IOC refused to cancel the Olympic Games in Tokyo, which are to be held from July 23 to August 8 this year. At the same time, more than 80 percent of Japanese want to postpone or completely cancel the Olympics, postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
