The chairman of the Party of Socialists of Moldova, Igor Dodon, accused the country’s President Maia Sanda of usurping power and compared her to the Fuhrer. Interfax reports.
“We see that Sandu openly violates the Constitution, decisions of the Constitutional Court. There is a real usurpation of power. Now we have the same situation as in the last century in Nazi Germany, when one of the Nazi leaders said that” My Fuhrer – my Constitution. “There are already” Pokemon “and” Balabols “in Moldovan politics, now there is a Fuhrer,” Dodon said.
He expressed bewilderment that “the EU ambassador, the US ambassador and other Western diplomats do not react to the violation of the Constitution” by Sandu.
Dodon recalled that when he was president, he always obeyed the decisions of the Constitutional Court. At the same time, he called on all diplomats not to allow interference in the internal affairs of Moldova.
Previously, Sandu did not obey the decision of the Constitutional Court and said that she would not nominate a new candidate for prime minister in cooperation with parliamentary parties. Initially, the president was going to re-nominate Natalya Gavrilitsa, who had already been rejected by the deputies, so that after the deputies’ repeated refusal to approve her, to dissolve the parliament. Now she intends to achieve elections in a different way – using a provision of the law that allows the parliament to dissolve if it does not approve a new government in three months.
If this does not work out, Sandu intends to hold a referendum on her resignation, so that citizens either refuse to trust her or support her course towards early elections.
