The authorities of Kamchatka have agreed with Japan on the temporary storage of caught fish on its territory. This was announced by the head of the Russian region Vladimir Solodov, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, due to the bans on supplies to China, almost all refrigeration capacities have already been loaded, so they had to seek help from neighboring countries, including Japan.
Solodov noted that the volume is not expected to be very large, and the negotiations are at a fairly advanced stage, and there is fundamental confirmation.
China suspended services for foreign ships in the port of Dalian in December 2020. The reason for this was the detection of coronavirus in several loaders of the port terminal. This port was the last one accessible to Russian fish vessels.
Until now, China has not presented any new rules for inspection or control over incoming products. Last week, the government pledged to support the fishermen. On Tuesday, the presidential envoy, Yuri Trutnev, said that so far Beijing has been ignoring Russian requests for the resumption of fish supplies.
Earlier it became known that the wholesale price for pollock in Russia fell to the lowest level for several years. The price collapse was caused by the same Chinese ban on the import of pollock.
In the first three months of the year, the catch is projected at 1.2 million tonnes. Of these, the domestic market needs only 280 thousand tons, and the rest needs to be sold to someone.
