Sony has announced the next generation of virtual reality headset. This is reported on the company’s website.
Representatives of the corporation indicated the release of a VR helmet in the future and clarified that the company is actively working on the device. The gadget will be designed to work with the PlayStation 5. The second Sony VR headset will differ from the original with an increased viewing angle and resolution, as well as improved tracking. Unlike PS5 VR, the headset will connect to the console using one cable, not two.
PlayStation Vice President Hideaki Nishino said that the company is using the experience gained during the creation of the first VR headset. “The helmet will connect to the PS5 with a single cable to simplify setup and enhance usability while delivering high image quality,” Nishino said.
Also, representatives of Sony said that the company’s engineers are working on the creation of a new controller. The controller will have the core functionality of the PS5 DualSense release, but will focus on improved ergonomics.
In a message to partners, it was said that Sony would begin sending out new VR headset kits to game developers, but no exact time was given. According to Hidetaka Nishino, in this regard, the company decided to tell fans about the work on the new VR headset.
Sony’s original VR headset was unveiled on October 13, 2016. The virtual reality helmet is designed to work with the PlayStation 4 using the DualShock 4 controller. The cost of the gaming gadget at the start of sales was $ 399.
