Pentagon explained presence of extremists among military

The Pentagon published a report on the presence of adherents of racial superiority among the US military and on attempts by extremists to attract even more military personnel. Reported by CNN.

“Active and former military personnel bring combat and tactical experience, their knowledge of technical weapons may be necessary to carry out attacks [by extremist groups],” the document says. CNN notes that the investigation was prompted by riots in the US Congress on January 6, when a crowd of supporters of ex-President Donald Trump stormed the building. Among the detainees were former and active military personnel.

The Ministry of Defense also talked about how to identify the followers of far-right ideas on tattoos and symbols on clothes. In addition, the department urged to use the help of special services – for example, the FBI units – in checking recruits. The channel reminds that nowhere, except for the US Navy, there are no rules and regulations prescribing the dismissal of violators – although the participation and support of radical movements is prohibited.

Before the inauguration of US President Joe Biden, the FBI checked all 25 thousand National Guard fighters who were supposed to guard Washington during the event. The check was driven by fears by the authorities that some of those tasked with protecting the American capital may themselves pose a threat to the future president and other high-ranking participants in the event.
