Americans will begin to deliver mail on electric vehicles

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has purchased a new generation of commercial vans, some of them will be equipped with electric motors, some with efficient internal combustion engines. This is stated on the company’s website.

Oshkosh Defense is developing, manufacturing and supplying new vehicles. The new models have increased volume and headroom, airbags, parking radar, rear view camera, blind spot detectors and air conditioning.

This will be the largest modernization of the USPS vehicle fleet over the past 30 years, it was reported. The new transport will start delivering mail to Americans in 2023. It is planned to commission up to 165 thousand of these vans in the next 10 years.

Earlier, the largest automakers in the EU decided to stop selling trucks with gasoline and diesel engines by 2040. The agreements were signed by Daimler, Scania, Man, Volvo, Daf, Iveco and Ford under the auspices of the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers. The alliance plans to stake on battery technologies, hydrogen, and environmentally friendly fuels. This association will spend 50-100 billion euros.
