In Russia, the leader of the ranking of the richest people in the country has changed. It was headed by the chairman of the board of directors of PJSC “Severstal” Alexey Mordashov with a fortune of $ 29.2 billion. He overtook the president of the Interros holding and the largest shareholder of Norilsk Nickel, Vladimir Potanin, who was previously the leader on the list. The entrepreneur’s fortune is estimated at $ 28.8 billion, according to Forbes Real-Time.
Potanin’s personal capital has decreased by more than two billion in the past few days due to the fall in Norilsk Nickel shares. The paper fell in price after the collapse of structures at one of the company’s enterprises on the night of February 19-20. We are talking about the Norilsk enrichment plant, which belongs to the company’s 100% subsidiary, Bear Ruchey LLC. The collapse killed three people. Potanin called the reason for the emergency a gross violation of safety measures.
The accident happened shortly after the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory partially satisfied the claim of Rosprirodnadzor over the spill of oil products in the Arctic against another “subsidiary” of Norilsk Nickel – Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company (NTEK). The court ordered the company to pay a fine of 146 billion rubles.
Meanwhile, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Potanin is still the richest Russian with a capital of $ 32.1 billion. The second place was taken by the co-owner of Novatek Leonid Mikhelson (26.4 billion). The third place was taken by the beneficiary of NLMK Vladimir Lisin ($ 25 billion). Mordashov is only the fourth with a fortune of 24.1 billion.
