Kyrgyzstan: schools were allowed to plant vegetable gardens to feed students

The government of Kyrgyzstan has allowed schools to plant vegetable gardens and grow vegetables and fruits on them to feed students. Telegram-channel “Sputnik Near Abroad” reports about it.

At a meeting of the executive body, it was acknowledged that the money allocated for children’s nutrition is not enough.

If you don’t have your own school yard, then you can ask the local government for the territory for the garden. Teachers of natural history, biology and labor will teach children about agriculture.

In 2020, food prices in Kyrgyzstan increased by more than 18 percent. This is the highest figure among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). For comparison, for the whole of 2019, food prices in the country increased by 5.7 percent.
