A working meeting was held in Moscow between Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of the Roscosmos State Corporation, and Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
At the beginning of the meeting, the leaders exchanged congratulations on anniversaries: in 2021 Nizhny Novgorod will be 800 years old, and the Russian rocket and space industry celebrates the 60th anniversary of the first manned flight into space. In this regard, Gleb Nikitin reported on educational events timed to coincide with the Cosmonautics Day, which are planned to be held at the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium from April to August this year.
The Governor drew the attention of the head of Roscosmos to the existing potential for mutually beneficial relations between the State Corporation and the region. He also expressed interest in building up new cooperation ties with the rocket and space industry of the Russian Federation, in joint research and production projects.
Dmitry Rogozin, in turn, thanked the head of the region for the upcoming events in honor of the Cosmonautics Day. The head of the rocket and space industry agreed that, despite the presence of Roscosmos practically on the territory of the entire country, in the Nizhny Novgorod region it is not presented as impressively as one would like. He also noted that the joint anniversary year could become an impetus for the development of relations between the industry and the region, and suggested dedicating one of the 2021 launches to the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod.
