The head of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Eirik Kristoffersen, said that a war with Russia is the worst thing that can happen, but this is an unlikely scenario. His words were published by NRK.
“The most dangerous thing that can happen to Norway, NATO and the whole world is an open conflict with Russia. Fortunately, this is not very likely,” the leader of the country’s army said.
Kristoffersen added that dialogue can always lead to joint solutions, and tensions should be reduced in Russia’s relations with Norway and its allies.
On February 23, it became known that the United States sent its B-1B Lancer strategic bombers to Norway for the first time. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow regards such a decision in Oslo as “another step towards increasing military activity in the Far North.”
