Biden declares Texas a natural disaster zone

US President Joe Biden has declared Texas a natural disaster zone due to abnormal weather. This is stated on the White House website.

The politician promised to allocate funds from the federal budget to help the state. It will be provided from February 11, 2021 onwards.

In particular, funds can be used to resolve the issue of providing temporary housing or repairing housing, as well as providing cheap loans to those who do not have insurance. The money will be spent on other programs to help citizens and business owners. If necessary, the US authorities promise to provide additional funds.

Previously it was reported that due to the most severe frost in more than 30 years in Texas, there was a food crisis. Due to the closure of outlets, many shops and restaurants are forced to discard perishable and expired goods, while experiencing difficulties in supplying new food.

In February of this year, several states were covered by abnormal weather: frost and strong winds. The snowstorm left more than three million Americans without electricity. The largest power outages occurred in Texas. Utilities said power outages were “a last resort to maintain the reliability of the electrical system as a whole.”
