Former Google engineer Anthony Lewandowski has shut down the artificial intelligence (AI) church he created. This is reported by Axios.
According to official documents, the church called Way of the Future closed at the end of 2020. At the same time, the liquidation process began even earlier, in June last year.
The AI Church opened back in 2015, and the teaching was based on the worship of technology. Lewandowski said that everything created by AI “eventually becomes a god.” All of the church’s $ 175,172 funds were donated to the Legal Advocacy and Education Foundation (NAACP), TechCrunch writes.
Axios recalls that the church had problems long before it was closed. They were, among other things, associated with the scandal over Lewandowski’s theft of Google technologies. In 2017, before leaving the company, he copied data related to self-driving car technology, which is being developed by Google subsidiary Waymo, to removable media. Subsequently, the engineer founded his own startup Otto, which was bought by the taxi aggregator Uber. Waymo was suing Uber over the use of Lewandowski transferred technology, but the companies entered into a settlement in 2018.
Former US President pardoned Lewandowski in January 2021.
