Lawyer Kolesnikova was left under house arrest

The lawyer of one of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition Maria Kolesnikova, the lawyer of the headquarters of the ex-head of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko Ilya Salei was left under house arrest until April 16. Interfax-Zapad reports this.

The arrest period expired on February 16, but it was extended by two months.

Salei was detained on September 9 within the framework of a criminal case under the article “Calls to action aimed at causing harm to national security.

In this case, members of the Presidium of the Coordination Council of the Opposition Kolesnikova and Maxim Znak were also arrested, and the former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was later declared wanted.

Presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9. The CEC announced that Alexander Lukashenko, who ran for a sixth term, won 80 percent of the vote, and Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent. This triggered massive protests across the country that have lasted for more than six months.
