Iran predicted an imminent lifting of US sanctions despite ongoing “diplomatic disputes.” This opinion was made by the representative of the government of Ali Rabia, quoted by Reuters.
“We confidently predict that diplomatic initiatives will lead to a favorable outcome, despite the disputes, which are a natural prelude to the parties returning to their obligations: including the lifting of all sanctions in the near future,” he explained.
Rabii stressed that the law does not contradict Iran’s obligations under the nuclear agreement and is not “an obstacle to an adequate response to America’s actions.”
On February 19, the administration of US President Joe Biden withdrew the demand put forward by his predecessor Donald Trump to restore sanctions against Iran and agreed to attend negotiations between European countries and the Islamic Republic.
In January 2020, Iran announced the rejection of the agreements on the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Action Plan). In early May 2018, former US President Donald Trump announced Washington’s unilateral withdrawal from the deal and the resumption of anti-Iranian sanctions.
The JCPOA Treaty on Iran was signed in the summer of 2015 between Tehran and six intermediary countries. Later, Iran was caught in gross violations of the agreements.
