Former US President Donald Trump was “lucky” to survive when he contracted COVID-19. This was stated by the head of the US National Institute of Allergic and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci in an interview with The Telegraph.
According to the infectious disease specialist, Trump could have died after contracting the coronavirus last year, given his weight and age. “He could have gotten seriously. I think he was lucky,” Fauci said.
Earlier it became known that they wanted to connect Trump to a ventilator at a time when he was sick with a coronavirus infection. According to media reports, the former head of state’s illness was more serious than the public was informed about. In particular, doctors were worried about the level of oxygen in Trump’s blood, which dropped below 90 percent, while the course of the disease is considered severe even when this indicator drops to 90 percent.
The politician and his wife Melania Trump contracted the coronavirus in October last year. The head of state was treated at the Walter Reed military hospital. He was taking an experimental antibody-based serum. Trump claimed he felt like a superman after taking the medication. A few days later, antibodies to the infection were found in his blood and he was discharged from the hospital.
