Rover sent scientists “selfies” and first color images from Red Planet

The Perseverance rover has sent the first color images from the Red Planet to Earth. NASA reports it.

The first high-resolution image was taken with a Hazcam located on the underside of the rover. The main task of this device is to survey potentially dangerous objects for the rover. Another image captures one of the rover’s six wheels, as well as rocks and dust from the surface of Mars.

In addition to these images, the rover sent scientists a “selfie” taken from the lander before landing.

NASA continues to receive images now.

The Perseverance rover landed on Mars on Friday night, February 18th. The rover landing took about seven minutes. All operations during it were carried out automatically. NASA experts expect to use Perseverance to find traces of existence in the distant past of life on Mars.
