The US has officially returned to the Paris Climate Agreement. Reported by Reuters.
It is noted that the administration of US President Joe Biden is planning “drastic cuts” in emissions over the next 30 years.
According to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Washington will include the topic of climate change in the most important negotiations. He stressed that this is vital for issues of national security, migration, international health and economic diplomacy.
The Paris Climate Agreement is the first global climate agreement signed by more than 190 countries in December 2015. According to him, all parties must take measures to reduce emissions, technological re-equipment and adaptation to climate change. Former US President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement, but Biden reversed a number of decisions of his predecessor in his first hour at the White House. He also signed a decree to return to the Paris Agreement.
