President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will discuss at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin joint response to emerging challenges, including military ones. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the press service of the Belarusian leader.
In addition, the presidents will touch upon key issues in the development of relations between Belarus and Russia, large joint projects and integration processes within the Union State.
Lukashenka and Putin will also exchange views on the international agenda.
Earlier on February 19, it was reported that Lukashenko flew out on a working visit to Russia for talks with Putin. The meeting of the presidents will take place on Monday, February 22nd in Sochi.
Prior to this, Kommersant, citing its sources, reported that Lukashenko intends to discuss with Putin the allocation of a loan to the Belarusian side in the amount of US $ 3 billion. Belarus wants to get access to the balance of funds allocated by Russia for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Grodno region.
The Ministry of Finance of Belarus denied this information. Lukashenka himself said that he was not going “to ask for something”.
