“Magnit” announced the change of the name of its network of largest stores, reports RBC. We are talking about superstores of the same name, now they will be called “Extra Magnet”.
The new brand was chosen for large stores within the city limits with a sales area of 2.35-5 thousand square meters and an assortment of about 25,550 product names. Today the chain has 133 stores. According to the agency, the retailer also intends to redesign some retail outlets for individual themes. In particular, the company has already tested the “space” superstore in Samara and the “Kuban” one in St. Petersburg.
According to the development strategy until 2025, the retailer plans to open 1-1.5 thousand “convenience stores”, 750-1000 cosmetics stores and 5-15 supermarkets and superstores per year. At the moment, the company is the largest retailer in Russia in terms of the number of stores, under its management at the end of 2020 there were 21,564 stores.
In November 2020, Magnit, together with the Rus food charity fund, the All-Russian Popular Front and Humanventure, launched a food card program. The amount of spending should not exceed a thousand rubles, and you can only buy food with it. The pilot regions of the program are St. Petersburg, Rostov and Vladimir regions.
