American released after 68 years in prison

Joe Ligon, supposedly the oldest and longest-imprisoned criminal in the United States, was released. He was released after 68 years in prison, and he was first imprisoned at the age of 15, says CNN.

Lygon was arrested in 1953: as a teenager, he participated in a gang that organized robberies and murders on the streets of Philadelphia. He was found guilty of involvement in two murders, he confessed that he attacked a man with a knife at least once, but did not confess to the murder.

“The child who committed these crimes in 1953 no longer exists. The person who was released from prison in 2021 is already 83 years old, he has grown, changed and is no longer a threat,” said lawyer Ligon. / p>

The elderly American was about to be released in 2016 and 2017, but he refused the conditions of release that were offered to him: he wanted to be released without any follow-up, and eventually achieved this by 2021.
