Beijing condemned the development of a new NATO strategy to contain China and Russia. This statement was made by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Hua Chunying, quoted by TASS.
She called it a manifestation of the Cold War mentality. So Hua Chunying responded to a request to comment on the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
On February 17, he called for an update of the alliance’s strategy to contain Moscow and Beijing. Stoltenberg recalled that the 2010 concept referred to partnership with Russia, but today the alliance “sees aggressive actions towards its neighbors, and the situation has changed a lot.” He called for expanding dialogue with “like-minded states around the world in order to confront those who do not share our values - countries such as Russia and China.”
The NATO Secretary General also spoke of the bloc’s readiness for both positive and negative scenarios of relations with Russia.
