The Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering (MIT) Corporation, which has created the R-30 Bulava-30 ballistic missile, has developed a maglev train capable of operating in unmanned mode, in particular, Yuri, general designer of the enterprise, told TASS Solomonov.
The Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) noted that the purpose of the corresponding project is to create a full-size technology demonstrator that would confirm the correctness of the approach to maglev used in MIT. The Hero of Russia added that the ongoing work is based on the project of a monorail transport system.
“Currently, the manufacture of components and electrical equipment of the ERS model is underway. The estimated date for the start of sea trials is the third quarter of this year,” said the general designer.
The Agency writes that “based on the test results, a decision will be made to deploy full-scale work on the serial production of a new type of monorail transport system and their replication for the regions of the country.”
