Belarusian militiamen exposed a secret protest, detaining a group of two dozen skiers. The portal TUT.by informs about it with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic.
Amateur athletes were caught near the village of Molodechno. Earlier, the police received a complaint in connection with the upcoming collection from the local branch of Minskenergo. “The applicants did not exclude the possibility of damage to high-voltage power lines by foreign objects,” the ministry said in a statement.
Arriving at the scene, the police found that an unauthorized protest rally with the use of white-red-white flags, umbrellas and other prohibited symbols was taking place under the guise of mass skiing. Two men put up resistance, one of them recorded alcohol intoxication.
All the participants in the illegal gathering were taken to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for administrative proceedings. Some of them have already been seen earlier in unauthorized actions.
Protests in Belarus have continued since the day of the presidential election on August 9, 2020, in which Lukashenko won with more than 80 percent of the vote. The disaffected demand his resignation and consider the voting results to be fake, they also insist on an end to violence from the security forces and on bringing to justice those who severely beat and tortured the detainees.
