Canonical spam incident after installing Ubuntu in Azure cloud

One of the Microsoft Azure cloud customers was outraged by the devil-may-care attitude to privacy and personal data in Microsoft and Canonical. Three hours after installing Ubuntu in the Azure cloud on LinkedIn Received a message from Canonical’s sales department with promotional offers related to using Ubuntu in the enterprise. However, the message explicitly stated that it was sent after the user installed Ubuntu on Azure.

Microsoft has stated that the agreement with publishers publishing products in the Azure Marketplace will transfer information about users who launched their product in the cloud, but the agreement permits the use of this information for technical support and prohibits the use of detailed contact information for marketing purposes.
