Trump calls failed impeachment trial “greatest witch hunt”

Former US President Donald Trump called the failed impeachment process one of the stages of the “greatest witch hunt” in the history of the country. This is reported by the Boston Herald with reference to a written statement by the ex-head of state.

Trump noted that no US president has ever had to go through something like this. He also promised that in the coming months he will present to the people of the country “a vision of a bright, shiny, unlimited future for America.” The former American leader stressed that he will “continue the path to US greatness.”

Earlier, the Senate of the US Congress during a meeting on Saturday acquitted former President Donald Trump in the framework of impeachment. 57 senators voted for impeachment, 43 voted against. 67 votes out of 100 were required to issue an indictment. Thus, the initiative did not receive the required number of votes.

The second impeachment trial against Trump began in the Senate on February 9. On January 14, the House of Representatives voted to impeach the former owner of the White House in connection with the riots in Washington. This is the first time the US has attempted to remove a state leader from office after the end of his presidential term.
