The charges were dropped from the policemen who pushed the 75-year-old protester against police violence. Reported by KTLA 5.
The case of Aaron Torglaski and Robert McCabe was closed. Buffalo, New York City Police spokesman John Evans said law enforcement was happy to see the police return to work. “These officers have been through hell, so I’m glad they’ll be back on duty soon,” Evans said.
He added that he could not disclose the details of the court session, and doubted the need to bring Torglaski and McCabe to criminal responsibility.
The Buffalo Police Department will initiate an internal investigation of the officers. According to KTLA 5, after the removal of Torglaska and McCabe from service, about 60 other members of the anti-riot police said they would no longer serve in the unit.
A video showing how the police roughly push 75-year-old Martin Gugino appeared online on June 5, 2020. The incident took place in the square in front of the city hall – the protesters blocked the movement of cars, and the police came to force them into neighboring areas. The footage shows how an elderly man is roughly pushed by the guards, he falls backward, hits his head on the asphalt and bleeds out.
