Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said that if European business refuses to invest in the infrastructure of the republic, it will always be able to get money in Russia and China, RIA Novosti writes.
According to him, in recent months the West does not want to invest in the country’s economy, while Moscow and Beijing are interested in lending to Belarus. “I would advise not to worry about this,” Golovchenko said.
He added that Minsk is in great need of money, for the implementation of large state projects for the next five years, he needs at least $ 77.8 billion. The Belarusian authorities intend to receive part of this amount on their own.
On December 17, 2020, the European Union approved the third package of sanctions against Belarus in connection with repressions against civil society. 29 new names and 7 enterprises were added to the sanctions list. Later, the United Kingdom and the United States joined the new sanctions.
Earlier it was reported that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to get a loan from Russia for $ 3 billion in addition to the previously issued $ 1.5 billion. The Ministry of Finance of Belarus denied this information.
