More than 20 Israelis were suspected of illegally selling cruise missiles to foreigners. Bloomberg reports this with reference to the Israeli General Security Service (Shabak intelligence service).
The suspects are accused of illegal development, production and testing of cruise missiles, which were then secretly sold to a certain state in Asia. Among them are former employees of the defense industry.
The investigation was conducted for several months by the Shin Bet, the police and the Israeli Defense Ministry, together with the State Prosecutor’s Office. “The suspects received instructions from elements associated with the same foreign state [that received the missiles] in exchange for the payment of significant cash and other benefits,” the statement said.
TASS, citing the Shabak, writes that during the investigation, the investigators revealed new information “about the methods of work of foreign elements in relation to the Israelis.” The intelligence service added that this case speaks of “potential damage to the security of the state.” The Shabak fears that Israel’s advanced technologies could get into countries hostile to it.
