For first time, authorities called cost of developing a Russian superweapon

The special representative of the President and former Minister of Defense of Russia Sergei Ivanov for the first time named the cost of developing the latest types of weapons in the country. This was announced on Thursday, February 11 by RBC in its Telegram channel.

According to Ivanov, we are talking about the Avangard hypersonic missile system, the Peresvet laser complex and the Poseidon underwater nuclear drone. The work on their creation was carried out for ten years and cost the state 10-20 billion rubles a year, the official said.

“For the Armed Forces [this amount] with a trillion dollar budget is almost imperceptible expenses,” Ivanov emphasized.

In March 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the country’s promising superweapon: the RS-28 Sarmat strategic missile system, the Burevestnik cruise missile of practically unlimited range, the Poseidon unmanned submarine, and the Kinzhal aviation missile system , missile complex “Avangard” with a hypersonic gliding winged unit and a combat laser installation “Peresvet”.
