US authorizes another cocktail of antibodies to treat COVID-19

The US authorities, as part of the fight against the coronavirus COVID-19, allowed the emergency use of a cocktail of antibodies from the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. This is stated on the website of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The agency authorized the use of bamlanivimab and etesevimab. Their joint injection is used to treat mild to moderate forms of COVID-19 in adults and children over 12 years old with a body weight of at least 40 kilograms, who have been diagnosed with coronavirus using tests, as well as in people at high risk of developing a severe form of the disease. p>

In November last year, the United States was allowed to treat some patients with coronavirus with a “cocktail” of REGN-COV2 antibodies from the American biotechnology company Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, which President Donald Trump received during his illness. However, patients who require oxygen therapy or hospitalization will not take this cocktail.
