The prosecutor’s office of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, following an inspection of five stores in Salekhard, revealed that at one of the points the prices for food were overstated by 286 percent. The message was published on the website of the department.
An administrative case was initiated against the store owner who made such extra charges. He was fined 50 thousand rubles.
Prior to this, the Department of Economy of the region published statistics according to which since the beginning of the year potatoes have grown in price by 4.8 percent, chicken eggs – by 4.5 percent, carrots – by 3.1 percent, and milk, flour and butter – by 1-2 percent.
Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture said that in Russia there are no grounds for a sharp rise in food prices. Officials expect that by spring the cost of goods will drop by itself.
In turn, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that it was not planned to strengthen government intervention in the trade sector, in price control. Meanwhile, analysts expect inflation to peak in February.
