In Belarus, internal political changes are ripe, but they should be dealt with by the people and their legitimate representatives, and not by Western countries. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, quoted by TASS.
“We proceed from the fact that only the Belarusian people and their legitimate representatives have the right to decide the fate of their country,” the diplomat stressed. Rudenko called on the “leaders of the democratic forces” and their “Western curators” not to interfere in the internal political processes of Belarus.
In Belarus, mass protests continue for six months due to the official results of the presidential election, according to which the country’s leader Alexander Lukashenko won 80 percent of the vote, and the main opposition candidate, the wife of the arrested blogger Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, received 10 percent. The first actions were violently dispersed using special means. A number of opposition politicians and activists were arrested or fled the country. Lukashenko himself claims that Western countries are behind what is happening.
