Chubais called condition for imminent collapse of entire countries

Special Representative of the President of Russia for Relations with International Organizations to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals Anatoly Chubais called the condition for the imminent collapse of entire states. According to him, the rejection of the principles of sustainable development (ESG – environmental, social, governance) is the way for countries to the third world. RIA Novosti reports.

Chubais noted that when following the principles of ESG, the state takes into account environmental, social and management factors when making decisions. These are issues such as waste management, health and safety and information transparency. The special representative of the president recalled that some foreign investors are already investing only in companies that follow the ESG concept.

“Today we are at the point when businesses or countries that have not understood, have not accepted, have not realized, have not integrated sustainable development into their strategy, ESG, are moving, well, at least to lagging behind, at most to collapse”, – said Chubais. He added that in this case the collapse is not a question of 50-100 years, but the prospect of 5-10 years.

Chubais added that with the growth rates of the world economy that have been observed in the past 30-40 years, the next generations may have a shortage of natural resources. To avoid this, it is necessary to limit consumption and production growth.
