Russia plans to organize additional deliveries of long-range hypersonic and high-precision weapons, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said. His words on Friday, February 5, are quoted by Interfax.
“The development of long-range high-precision weapons and equipping the Armed Forces with them is under the special control of the Russian president. In April, it is necessary to report to the head of state on what is being done in this direction,” Shoigu said at a meeting in Reutov, Moscow region. p>
He added that further proposals will be discussed on sources of funding, as well as the state of industrial production facilities for the purchase of weapons for the army.
In December, it became known that the Russian Pacific Fleet until 2028 will receive six corvettes capable of carrying Zircon hypersonic missiles. The amount of the contract is currently unknown, but earlier it was reported that 22.6 billion rubles would be spent on the manufacture of the lead ship of the project 20385 “Thundering”.
In the same month, Putin announced the threat of zeroing Russia’s nuclear potential. According to him, the arms race is already underway, and it began after the US withdrawn from the Treaty on the Limitation of Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Systems in 2002. “One country is building an” anti-missile umbrella “for itself. What is the end result? The end result is the zeroing of our nuclear potential. We had to do everything to prevent this from happening,” the head of state said.
