The Russians were told the timing of the start of vaccination against cat allergies: they can begin to vaccinate with an innovative vaccine as early as 2023. This was announced by the professor of the Vienna Medical University, head of the department of immunopathology of the department of pathophysiology and allergy research, Rudolf Valenta, participating in the development, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, the vaccine developed by the scientist together with the team of the Sechenov University is also effective against hepatitis B. In 2021, it is planned to switch to clinical trials.
“From the dosage and safety stage, you can move on to a large study, and then, under certain circumstances, perhaps already in 2023, the vaccine will be available to the population, since registration of drugs in Russia is also happening faster than in the EU,” said the professor .
Valenta assured that the vaccine will be safe, its production will take place using genetic engineering. Those wishing to be vaccinated will need to do five injections in order to develop an immune response, after which they will have to be vaccinated every 6 months.
The drug is also planned to be used for the prevention of allergies in children, so that they do not develop such an allergy at all. In addition, this vaccine will help patients with allergies to dogs, guinea pigs and rats.
According to the professor, if the tests are successful, Russia will become “the first country without cat allergies”.
Earlier, allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok said that skin rashes and itching that appear due to the use of tangerines and chocolate are not allergic reactions. In fact, this is dermatitis, which occurs due to an excess of histamine.
